Arth Wen is Welsh for “white bear,” and is the usual way of translating “polar bear,” my nickname in college, decades ago. And British Columbia, one of my favorite places to visit, also has its Spirit Bears, a sub-species of black bears that have white fur. When I first signed up for the AODA, there was an article on spirit bears in one of my favorite nature magazines. It seemed that Spirit was helping revive my old nickname, this time with a Druid twist. Seemed legit.
