Dakota
Greetings all, I’d like to share some things about myself here. My name is Dakota and I like you am getting to know who I am. As I grew up, some conflict between my parents erupted which lead to me more or less taking care of my little brother and sister. We moved around every 18 months, so I often would be the new kid at school. I got really good at adapting and blending in, so much so that I lost myself along the way.
I come from a long line of military family, almost everyone on my Dad’s side of the family has served or currently serving in some branch of the military. I dislike violence so I ended up choosing a support trade within the army here in Canada of communication information system specialist. I learned many hard lessons from my time here, yet the greatest lesson I drew from this period of my life is that was not the version of myself that I wanted to be.
To make a long story short, I felt I needed to explore spiritually and the army was not willing to accommodate my needs so I choose to retire the uniform. This is when I believe my spiritual journey really started. Feel free to ask me more if it occurs to you.
As for interests I’m a curious person by nature so I tend to explore a lot of different topics and little projects. I’ve enjoyed wood working in the past, where I’ve built furniture, shadow boxes and inlays. I’ve written and drawn some silly comics about my dog and cat for some art classes I took last year. I took some odd courses that piqued my interests, one was a psychosomatic psychology introductory course which taught some rudimentary face and body readings. Another was Aquaponics, which now that I live with some land finally I can attempt building a home system for my lady and I to grow our own produce in. I even took a course about Copywriting, I like to understand psychology of people in various forms I suppose since I’ve had no interest in working in the copywriting field.
Among the new explorations I’m going to learn and practice this year for my first year studies, I am going to be trying my hand at some gold/silver smithing and blacksmithing. I’ve heard that Vancouver Island here is home to some precious stones and gold too, so I aim to collect the raw materials to craft an engagement ring for my partner. I have an old silver ring that I cannot wear anymore due to it being too small, that I will use to reforge if I am unable to find any/enough gold on the island.
I welcome any questions you have for me, love and peace be with you my friends!
