Scomber
I'm still in my Candidate period. I self initiated in January of 2015, but had been attempting to do SoP for a few months before then.
I live a few miles from salt water in the Penobscot Bay watershed, within a few dozen miles of Acadia National Park. Our shores tend to be rocky, and the horizon is full of islands. Our weather is moderated by the bay, with thunderstorms rarely making it across from west to east. My old hayfields are sprouting to white pine and alder in places. The woods are mostly fir, red oak, white pine, and a few poplar and birch. I have a growing collection of apple trees. There are deer getting into the garden, and moose and bears in the woods. I've seen cougar/mountain lions twice in 14 years.
My sweetie and I live in a snug, comfortable space over the garage, and intend to rent out the old farm house to summer visitors. I do energy audits on people's houses, although the low current price of oil is making business slow. I do some carpentry too. I have degrees in Agricultural Engineering Technology (a.k.a. "Shop"), and Environmental Science. I was a junior officer on a US Navy oiler in Desert Storm. I did Master Gardener in the mid 90's in Oregon.
I think I should fix up a small boat and sail more. I have a beat up salvage Laser that I'm turning into a row boat, and if I do a bit more it might make a small trimaran.
