In Southeast Georgia, the local government spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayers money to implement a commercial “space port”. The community was decidedly against it as it would negatively impact Cumberland Island National Seashore, a unit of the NPS.
After a vote in favor of stopping the spaceport, the Spaceport Authority attempted to sue the people and reverse the vote. Well, yesterday the Governor stepped in and signed into law that repeals the Spaceport Authority.
This is a huge win for all the protected species and the natural environment!
