Getting that reading list is the hardest part.
Looking at some of those books, I wish someone had written THE MOJAVE’S WEATHER!
@JosephHall, maybe that book is waiting for you to write it.
If you go to the National Weather Service’s local office’s website for the area you live in, you’ll probably find detailed info on local weather and climate, as well as a Forecast Discussion in which the meteorologists discuss current and predicted weather at a more technical level than the forecasts provided to the public. I read the one for the area I live in daily.
I think @Zita1 might be right.
This summer‘s writing project might be the beginning of a book that addresses the weather (and geology) changes in this region that led the Great Western Waterway (home of a probable ichthyosaur breeding ground) to become the Great Mojave Desert (home of an improbable Druid).
Sounds fantastic, @JosephHall ![]()

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a new book resource for those in Maryland. The Maryland Native Plant Society has an inexpensive publication called the Piedmont Region Maryland Native Plant Guide: Maryland Native Plant Society - NEW Maryland Native Plant Guide Piedmont Region!.
It would also be useful for those who live in the Piedmont close to MD. Cheers!
