Sacred Space Conference

I’ve signed up to attend the Sacred Space Conference in Towson, MD, March 27-30. It’s billed as a gathering for intermediate to advanced practitioners, and it has a … stunning … array of presentations.

I wondered if any other AODA Druids will be there. I know we have a number of members in the Maryland/DC area. Presenters include Kristoffer Hughes, a Welsh Druid who’s published several books, and familiar faces from MAGUS, Christian Brunner and Patricia Woodruff. It looks to be a fabulous time (although not a cheap one, LOL).

Sounds like a good one. Unfortunately, all of these things seem to be long trips for me, and I am already going to Paganicon in Minneapolis in March. Mhara Starling will be at that one.

Oh, how I wish I could go to these things. Living this close to southern IL means not having any conferences like this around me. One of these days, I think I’ll host one here :joy: I’ll get the best of the best from all over! When a girl dreams, she dreams big

Go for it, Heather! Travel is always the problem, isn’t it? If only Druid magic included teleportation!

Now that would be something! If only teleportation was readily available to anything over particle size lol One day it will happen, just not today. I will look into how to go about getting a conference down here. We have a huge Civic Center that doesn’t get its fair use. The main part is open to rental. How hard could it be?! I mean we arranged BioBlitzes here lol

Well… it could be a huge job. A single-day event could be manageable (but less attractive to travelers), but as soon as you get into overnights, food and lodging become big, complicated pieces. You would need a team of people to handle it… and money… etc. etc.

Actually, though, Sacred Space does provide only the conference presentations and some recommendations for where to get food and lodging. That part’s on the participants. So there ya go–I’m just used to attending weekend events where those things are included. Have fun…

I was beginning to get discouraged, but then remembered that there are a couple of houses in our family sitting empty and I could probably coax the manager here at the park to allow me to open up the other homes sitting here for people coming in that couldn’t afford to stay in hotels and such. I have access to a three-story, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom farmhouse; a two-story, three-bedroom, 1.5-bath here in the city; and probably about 15 mobile homes of various kinds that aren’t being rented out that the manager and our corporate representative could allow us access to for a nominal fee. After all, they rent spaces out all of the time and only ask for deposits. They also give us a list of what needs to be done after they leave to keep everything the way it was. We could make recommendations for those who can afford to stay somewhere else. Food can be bought in grocery stores like they would if they were home. I wouldn’t want to do this until Spring though because this is a winter wonderland at the moment :joy:
